Salford City Singers were originally named Start Singing when they began in April 2010 at Start in Salford Creative Arts and Well-being Centre. Start in Salford is a very important and successful project that uses creativity to help vulnerable people.

Salford City Singers is a choir in Salford and consists of people from the surrounding community. Some of the members came to the choir initially as service users of Start in Salford’s Art and Creative Workshops, or have been involved with the workshops at Achieve Recovery Centre.

Salford City Singers is a wonderfully friendly and supportive group and members have made some good friends during their time there. The purpose of our group is to sing for fun and health.

People from all walks of life, and with varying experience come to the group to reap the benefits.

Salford City Singers are keen performers and have sung at a wide variety of events: Media City Music and Arts Festival, Ordsall Café Salford Refugee Week, Songs of Praise, Salford University Events and Start in Salford Film Launch, to name but a few.

As with all Simply Singing choirs everyone is welcome to join Salford City Singers. You don’t need any experience and there’s no need to read music, but you do need a sense of humour and a willingness to have a go!
